The Ukrainian Defense Forces carried out a series of coordinated strikes against Russian air defense systems between March 22 and 23, hitting strategic targets both in occupied territories and within Russia itself.
The operations involved the use of specialized units and drones, expanding the reach of Ukrainian military actions.
In the Donetsk region, near the village of Kurakhivka, a Tor-M1 air defense system was destroyed. Considered a key component of short-range air defense, the system features radar capable of identifying aerial targets at distances of dozens of kilometers and missiles with interception capability at various altitudes.
The offensive was conducted by the 9th Battalion “Kairos”, part of the 414th Unmanned Systems Brigade known as “Madyar’s Birds”. The unit’s role highlights the growing importance of unmanned technologies in Ukrainian military operations.
At the same time, strikes were also recorded in Russia’s Bryansk region, where a 2S6 Tunguska system was hit, along with a Nebo-U radar near Suponevo. The latter is one of the most advanced air surveillance systems, capable of detecting aircraft and missiles at long ranges, making its neutralization a significant blow to Russia’s monitoring capabilities.
